The Reading Seed program was born in 1995. From that first year in which 21 volunteers helped change the lives of 42 children in one school, the program merged with the Rotary Club of Tucson in the 2004-2005 school year so that more than 900 additional volunteers were trained for 102 schools in nine school districts.
The goal of the Rotary Reading Coach program is to help all children in Pima County in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades read at or above grade level.
To do this, every child who needs a coach must get one, requiring thousands of new volunteer Reading Coaches.
Age-appropriate reading materials in our library are now available to all children in Pima County, in grades 1-12, who are not yet reading at grade level.

The Rotary Club of Tucson welcomes the opportunity to build partnerships within the community, like those we've established with Goodwill Industries and the University of Arizona College of Education, to help all children in Pima County learn to love to read.
