If you have any trouble logging in, please call us at 798-0700 or email us at bstahler@readingseed.org.
Can I use the catalog without logging in?
Yes! The catalog can be browsed without logging in. You only need to login if you want to be able to put books on hold.
How do I reserve or hold books?
First you must login. Once you have done so successfully, your name will come up in the upper right corner of the screen. When you find a title you want to request, click on the title and another screen will come up that has additional information about the book. On the right side of the screen you will find a button that says “Hold it.” Click on the Hold it! button and then go back to the catalog to search some more.
I know at what level my students are reading. Is there a way of searching for books at that level?
Yes. That is one of the things that makes the Lending Library so unique. First go to the Lending Library catalog and enter a topic in the “Find” box. This should be something your student is interested in. It could be anything from dinosaurs to dogs to fairies. Now move down the screen and click on the drop down menu next to Reading Programs. Click on Fountas & Pinnell and then specify which levels you want the catalog to search. Go back up and click on keyword and you will get a list of books on that particular topic that are at those specific reading levels. Call the Lending Library at Reading Seed if you have questions.
What if I need some help figuring out at what level my students are reading?
You can work from levels assigned to the books that your student is able to read and from that, you can figure out the Fountas & Pinnell level as well as others. Remember, no system is 100% accurate. Search for books in a range around your student’s level for best results. Comparison chart for leveled books
